Crunch and Co.-Do you know of any anthropological or sociological research based loosely on expressions of national or cultural identity in Metal, folk or otherwise?

I am contemplating research directions for Ethnomusicological post graduate research. Folk musics have been studied to death, perticularly in Ireland, but I have yet to come across examinations of more sonicaly transgressive traditions linked to a real or imagined mythical past.

If anyone has any leads even vaguely relating to the above please drop me an email.
